A steady stream of good news from WAGE. We receive a regular update from Working Artists and the Greater Economy in New York with information about organisations that are being W.A.G.E. certified across the U.S.
“There are now 27 W.A.G.E. Certified organisations across the U.S., in Chicago, Denver, Houston, Ithaca, Los Angeles, Marylhurst, Miami, Minneapolis, New York, Providence, Saint Paul, San Francisco, and Seattle. In these cities you will find nonprofit organisations that have chosen to pay the artists they work with according to minimum standards of compensation.”
Update on October 5th 2019, three and a half years after we published this article: In all, 73 organisations are now certified, including 3 small museums, which is quite an achievement.
These are important achievements in the United States developed and encouraged through an independent artist led organisation. With one step at a time, we will get there.
